The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine

The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine is a non-profit medical association that is dedicated to the advancement of technology to detect, prevent, and treat diseases related to aging and to promote research to slowdown, or retard, aging and optimize the human aging process. The academy is dedicated to educating physicians, scientists, and the public on anti-aging advancements and issues.

What is Anti-Aging Medicine?

Anti-Aging Medicine is a medical specialty that utilizes clinical and scientific research to identify, prevent, treat, and reverse age related decline in patients. The Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine was established in 1997, as a professional certification and review board offering physician recognition and examination in Anti-Aging Medicine. It is one of the fastest growing medical specialties in the world with over 24,000 physicians, scientists, and health professionals from 110 countries.

The academy believes the illnesses and disabilities caused by normal aging are associated with physiological events. In many cases these events are receptive to medical treatment, and the human lifespan can be increased and the quality of life improved.

We live in a society where the system of medicine is primarily based upon treating diseases or acute care. As a result there are continuing increases in the number of people suffering from chronic diseases. We address the underlying cause of diseases and focus on a patient centered approach to address the overall health of a patient including history, genetic, and lifestyle factors that influence long term health. In this way we support the expression of an individual’s unique needs that lead to a healthier lifestyle.
